Award-Winning AV Integration Preserves St. Bartholomew’s Historic Legacy

September 3, 2026

Recognized with Commercial Integrator’s 2026 Integration Award for Best House of Worship, IVCi delivered a discreet, reliable AV solution that enhances worship, events, and global outreach — without compromising landmark architecture or traditions.

Project Summary

St. Bartholomew’s Church, a National Historic Landmark in New York City, sought a modern AV upgrade to enhance worship, events, and global outreach while preserving its architecture, acoustics, and visual character. Working with Salas O’Brien, IVCi delivered a discreet, campus-wide solution across six spaces, including the 1,200-seat sanctuary. The project required careful planning around ornate finishes, 36-inch limestone walls, and New York City’s largest pipe organ.

Solution

IVCi deployed a unified Q-SYS control system with touch panels in every space for intuitive operation by clergy, staff, and volunteers. Seven custom color-matched EAW AC6 ADAPTive column arrays provide clear speech and music coverage while blending into the sanctuary’s historic interior. Shure digital wireless microphones enable seamless movement between spaces, while a new broadcast hub, featuring Allen & Heath and Blackmagic Design technology, supports professional multi-camera livestreams.

Results

The system delivers intelligible audio throughout the sanctuary and enhanced AV capabilities campus-wide. St. Bart’s can now support services, concerts, and events on an intuitive, reliable platform while extending programming to remote audiences worldwide. Through concealed equipment, approved cable paths, and coordination with preservation and structural experts, IVCi preserved the landmark’s character while creating a flexible foundation for the future.

The best part about working with IVCi and Salas O’Brien on our A/V overhaul was the seamless way in which their solutions were integrated into our building and our church life. In a place like St. Bart’s, the technology shouldn’t outshine the architecture, the tradition, or the community. IVCi and Salas O’Brien helped us implement a solution that keeps the right things in the foreground. Everything runs more smoothly and everyone can stop worrying about the tech and focus on what’s important to us.
