The Polycom CX5500 Unified Conference Station delivers enterprise grade video and audio collaboration capabilities in an easy-to-use system that can be plugged into a USB port on a laptop. The Polycom CX5500 also doubles as an IP conference phone when not used for Skype for Business video calls. The CX5500 and CX5100 are successors to the Polycom CX5000 HD Unified Conference Station. They retain the unique around-the-table, 360-degree, panoramic experience and deliver more than twice the HD video image quality, double the frame rate for life-like motion handling, and provide Polycom’s HD Voice for the highest quality audio (160Hz-22kHz) while adding a new interface and design and a lockable privacy cap. Active speaker resolution is 1920x1080p (16:9) when used with Skype for Business or Office 365 (Skype for Business Online)
While the CX5000 HD (previous model) included 2 external microphones in the box, additional microphones are now optional with the CX5500. For most room sizes, additional (optional) microphones will not be needed as the microphone range is 20 feet (6 meters) on the CX5500 unit itself. For example, one could place a CX5500 on a 30 foot long conference table and expect every room participant to be clearly heard without the optional microphones.
The CX5500’s user-friendly design makes it easy to launch or join a call directly from the Skype for Business—users simply connect the CX5500 via USB to a PC or Mac laptop that is running Skype for Business. Because it’s easy to use, companies can save on training and IT support costs.
- Meetings as natural as being there with HD camera that automatically follows the conversation flow in 1080p
- See everyone in the conference room with a unique 360 degree panoramic view
- Polycom legendary HD Voice quality means everyone can be heard and understood (160Hz- 22kHz)
- No training needed—use the same Skype for Business client in the meeting room as at your desk
- No need to provision a second conference phone in the room—the CX5500 also doubles as an IP conference phone when not used for Skype for Business video calls
Every customer that uses Office 365 or Skype for Business is a potential sales prospect for a CX5500, even if they still have a legacy PBX or IP PBX. The CX5500 lets groups participate in Skype for Business video calls in rooms of all sizes—from huddle rooms to large conference rooms.
If you sell Microsoft voice solutions, the CX5500 provides an entry point to enabling video collaboration or opening up further discussions on how other video solutions from Polycom may fit your customer’s requirements. The CX5500 can often “open the door” to greenfield prospects who use Skype for Business primarily for IM, even if they currently use Cisco or Avaya for their IP PBX. It is also a portfolio differentiator that gives you the advantage in competitive situations going against other vendors lacking conference room solutions in their portfolios.
